America

 Forsaken

By

Prophet T. E. Deckard

Our forefathers came to this country primarily seeking religious freedom. After a long and gruesome struggle this country united and established a Constitution that would serve the people. The first ten amendments known as the Bill of Rights were written to allow every individual certain inalienable rights. Through this freedom and protection that was guaranteed to the people, this country became one of the greatest sovereign nations on the face of the earth.

ONE NATION UNDER GOD was the anthem which sealed a people together as no nation other than Israel had ever known. In every school room the Bible was used as a main part of the curriculum. A high standard of moral values was not only taught in the classroom, but was also demanded in the home. A man's hand shake was a bond that in no way could or would be broken. The signing of all the legal papers one could stack up in a large room would not mean any more than that hand shake. It was inconceivable to ever think of not doing what was agreed upon. People feared God and looked upon the ministry as holy vessels unto the Lord. What happened to the America of that day? Is it gone forever? These and other questions will be discussed in this book. We will examine the truths of then and compare them with what we have been told are the truths for this generation.

We will start on an incredible journey through time starting with Christopher Columbus and ending with the leaders of this generation. Through this journey you will discover, as I did, that we have sorely missed the mark set before us by our forefathers. This nation was built upon the blood, sweat, and tears of people that had first put the Lord Jesus Christ at the head of their church, government, home, school, and business. History will show this to be fact and not fiction.

CHAPTER 1

In The Beginning.......

Throughout the history of the Bible, we find the nation of Israel either doing according to the Word of God or living the way, in which they preferred, out from under God's Word. In every occasion that Israel wanted to live without God's Word ruling them, God's judgment would fall upon them. Any nation whether it be Israel or not should realize that it is a dangerous thing to fall into the hands of the Living God.

Historians have documented stories of our forefathers landing in America, and the first thing they did as their feet touched the ground was to get on their knees and thank Almighty God for their safe arrival. Most, if not all, came here seeking religious freedom.  The nations from which they came insisted on conducting religion in a way they could not accept. This new land called America gave each an opportunity to worship God in the way they thought best. So they came, first by the tens, then by the hundreds, and then by the thousands. This nation was formed by God fearing men and women who for the most part knew that without God and His divine protection they had nothing. These people knew that if they did not serve God in the way He desired, they would not have that divine protection. Catholics, Quakers, and Protestants alike were able to carry out their religious beliefs without being persecuted.

It is fitting that we start with Christopher Columbus since he is the one who discovered the New World. His belief in Jesus was very strong, and it showed in his speech and actions.

Christopher Columbus

Christopher Columbus (1451 - 1506), after seven years of trying to convince the monarchs of Europe to finance his expedition, won the support of Queen Isabella of Castille and King Ferinand of Aragon. Columbus set sail on August 3, 1492, and after the longest voyage ever made out of sight of land, discovered the New World on October 12, 1492. Columbus wrote:

At a very early age I began to sail upon the ocean. For more than forty years, I have sailed everywhere that people go.

I prayed to the most merciful Lord about my heart's great desire, and He gave me the spirit and the intelligence for the task: seafaring, astronomy, geometry, arithmetic, skill in drafting spherical maps and placing correctly the cities, rivers, mountains and ports. I also studied cosmology, history, chronology and philosophy.

It was the Lord who put into my mind (I could feel His hand upon me) the fact that it would be possible to sail from here to the Indies. All who heard of my project rejected it with laughter, ridiculing me.

There was no question that the inspiration was from the Holy Spirit, because he comforted me with rays of marvelous illumination from the Holy Scriptures, a strong and clear testimony from the 44 books of the Old Testament, from the four Gospels, and from the 23 Epistles of the blessed Apostles, encouraging me continually to press forward, and without ceasing for a moment they now encourage me to make haste.

Our Lord Jesus desired to perform a very obvious miracle in the voyage to the Indies, to comfort me and the whole people of God. I spent seven years in the royal court, discussing the matter with many persons of great reputation and wisdom in all the arts; and in the end they concluded that it was all foolishness, so they gave up.

But since things generally came to pass that were predicted by our Savior Jesus Christ, we should also believe that this particular prophecy will come to pass. In support of this, I offer the gospel text, Matt. 24:25, (actually Matt. 24:35) in which Jesus said that all things would pass away, but not his marvelous Word. He affirmed that it was necessary that all things be fulfilled that were prophesied by himself and by the prophets.

I said that I would state my reasons: I hold alone to the sacred and Holy Scriptures, and to the interpretations of prophecy given by certain devout persons.

It is possible that those who see this book will accuse me of being unlearned in literature, of being a layman and a sailor. I reply with the words of Matt. 11:25: "Lord, because thou hast hid these things from the wise and prudent, and hath revealed them unto babes."

The Holy Scriptures testifies in the Old Testament by our Redeemer Jesus Christ, that the world must come to an end. The signs of when this must happen are given by Matthew, Mark and Luke. The prophets also predicted many things about it.

Our Redeemer Jesus Christ said that before the end of the world, all things must come to pass that had been written by the prophets.

The prophets wrote in various ways. Isaiah is one of the most praised by Jerome, Augustine, and by the other theologians. They all say that Isaiah was not only a prophet, but an evangelist as well. Isaiah goes into great detail in describing future events and in calling all people to our holy catholic faith. Most of the prophecies of Holy Scripture have been fulfilled already ...

I am a most unworthy sinner, but I have cried out to the Lord for grace and mercy, and they have covered me completely. I have found the sweetest consolations since I made it my whole purpose to enjoy His marvelous presence.

For the execution of the journey to the Indies I did not make use of intelligence, mathematics or maps. It is simply the fulfillment of what Isaiah had prophesied. All this is what I desired to write down for you in this book.

No one should fear to undertake any task in the name of our Savior, if it is just and if the intention is purely for His holy service. The working out of all things has been assigned to each person by our Lord, but it all happens according to His sovereign will even though He gives advice.

He lacks nothing that it is in the power of men to give him. Oh what a gracious Lord, who desires that people should perform for Him those things for which He holds Himself responsible! Day and night moment by moment, everyone should express to Him their most devoted gratitude.

I said that some of the prophecies remained yet to be fulfilled. These are great and wonderful things for the earth, and the signs are that the Lord is hastening the end. The fact that the gospel must still be preached to so many lands in such a short time, this is what convinces me.

One can easily see that the Lord was very much a part of Christopher Columbus's life. Even the commission that was given to him by Queen Isabella acknowledged God when she said:

It is hoped that by God's assistance some of the continents and islands in the ocean will be discovered ... for the glory of God.

Columbus christened the first island he landed on San Salvador, meaning Holy Saviour, and while kneeling, he prayed:

O Lord, Almighty and everlasting God, by Thy holy Word Thou hast created the heaven, and the earth, and the sea; blessed and glorified be Thy Name, and praise be Thy Majesty, which hath deigned to use us, Thy humble servants, that Thy holy Name may be proclaimed in this second part of the earth.

On every island that they stopped, Columbus had his men erect a large wooden cross:

As a token of Jesus Christ our Lord, and in honor of the Christian faith.

According to Columbus' personal log, his purpose in seeking "undiscovered worlds" was to:

"...bring the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the heathens."

"...bring the Word of God to unknown coastlands."

The hand of God was undoubtedly upon Christopher Columbus; his discovery of the New World was not by accident. Columbus said that it was by the grace and mercy of God that covered him, not intelligence, that founded the New World. As we can see, he acknowledged that the Lord was in everything he did.

We need to take special note that even from this beginning, Jesus was at the very core of reasoning for the journey to discover this part of the world. It was not some drunken sailor who happened on to the New World by chance. It was God's divine will that it was a man who placed Him at the head of all things.

Martin Luther

Martin Luther is another man who is very important to American history. His importance is different from that of Columbus, but by no means less significant.

Martin Luther (1483-1546), who led the Protestant Reformation in Germany, was renowned for his enduring literary contribution of translating the Bible into the German language. He received his Doctor of Divinity and was appointed Professor of Philosophy at the University of Wittenberg, where he was promoted to the position of District V2icar. Among Luther's many works, he wrote:

I am much afraid that schools will prove to be the great gates of hell unless they diligently labor in explaining the Holy Scriptures, engraving them in the hearts of youth.

I advise no one to place his child where the scriptures do not reign paramount. Every institution in which men are not increasingly occupied with the Word of God must become corrupt.

How true these words have turned out to be in the generation that we now live. Men such as Martin Luther had insight to what was right, and even more importantly, what would cause all that they had labored toward to vanish. We now are teaching our first graders that it is all right for mommy to have another woman living with them as mommy's lover. Or if it is daddy, it is all right if he has a man as his lover. This is what people such as Luther were talking about.  If the Bible had been taught the way it used to be taught in our schools, we would not have these abominations going on in our public schools. Martin Luther was right; by not teaching our children the scriptures in the classroom we have opened the gates of hell for them. If children do not know right from wrong, they will become a product of what only seems to be right according to the multitudes.
